Food Service Worker

1. Prepares and cooks food, etc. in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well as departmental policies and procedures. 2. Serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance. 3. Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures. Weights, measures, labels, and dates as needed. 4. Serves meals on a timely basis. 5. Makes only authorized substitutions. 6. Assists in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc. 7. Prepares snacks as directed. 8. Assists in inventory and storage of food and supplies to ensure items are readily available for next meals. 9. Cleans and washes equipment, counters, carts, steam tables, coffee makers, sinks, refrigerators/freezers, and other items as needed. Disposes of refuse and maintains work and storage areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition. 10. Performs dishwashing procedures and assures that utensils, etc. are readily available for next meals. 11. Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Food Service Operations Manager/Director immediately. 12. Reports all accidents/incidents as established by policy and procedures. 13. Follows established Infection Control policies and procedures. 14. Follows all Dietary policies in accordance to established procedures. 15. Works with Food Service Operations Manager/Director as necessary to implement changes, as required. 16. Attends and participates in meetings, inservices, workshops, etc. as directed. 17. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility, to ensure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the individuals. 18. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent consumer information to ensure individual rights are protected.

High School Diploma or equivalent. 1 year experience in Food Service Operations. One (1) year employment in a bargaining unit Custodian classification will satisfy the experience requirement for the position.
